About This Course

WHAT IS THIS TRAINING? The Gender & Sexual Diversity Training was developed by the Health Policy Plus (HP+) project, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), in coordination with a U.S. Government interagency team made up of members of the PEPFAR Key Populations Working Group and the PEPFAR Gender Technical Working Group. This version of the curriculum was developed specifically for PEPFAR staff and their country-level implementing partners. This training was adapted for use with the PEPFAR Virtual Academy and further updated in May 2021.

THIS COURSE IS REQUIRED: This training is a required course for PEPFAR staff in order to provide them with a baseline of knowledge surrounding gender and sexual diversity to assist in key populations programming. The training aims to help country programs understand and address the needs of gender and sexual minority communities in the context of HIV programming, U.S. workplace policy on nondiscrimination, and through a human rights lens. There is a GSD point of contact in each mission who will be tracking and reporting on who has completed the course.

TIME: Please set aside a minimum of two hours to complete this course in full. Should you for some reason have to return to the training, you will be able to pick up where you last left off. Note that in order to receive credit for course completion, you must go through all three modules of the course.
